I aim to capture deeply human emotion in my work. In a world of perfectly curated & edited digital personas, I find intense beauty in being able to capture & share someone or something as it is, before the subject notices the camera.
Street .
Street photography provides me a richer experience of the world. It helps me pay attention, to hang on the beautiful and sometimes painful details which are easily missed.
Shooting film, creates presence. One shot at each passing moment. With each click of the shutter, the moment fades to past and my focus moves to now. It is presence and flow in action.
Music .
Moments of deep connection, joy, and release within the crowd inspire me. My favorite photos transport me back into a crowd, into a moment.
I shoot music out of a love for capturing the energy of a show and the emotion it creates.
Travel .
Clicking the shutter and progressing a roll creates a tactile memory. When I look at shots from my travels I don’t just remember the view, I remember the feelings; cold, joy, sadness, awe, loneliness, wonder. Shooting analog helps me to recall precious moments of life with clarity.
